Levels
We will have at least three groups or levels. You choose a description which best describes your ability/knowledge in Balboa/Swing. We will then divide all participants into approximately equal groups. To attend the Weekend you should have previous experience dancing Balboa/Swing. For example, a one term course in Balboa, a week in Herräng or equivalent.
When you register, note which of the following A, B, C, D, E best describes your ability AND experience. Please take the descriptions seriously so that you (and your classmates) manage the level in which you are placed. If you have questions, please contact Trina Dobbs, trina(at)comhem.se.
- A: I have taken a Beginning course in Balboa/Swing or a week in Herräng AND do a good amount of social dancing. I am familiar with the basics but am not so confident dancing Balboa/Swing socially.
- B: I have taken TWO or more courses in Balboa/Swing. I can dance the basics. I dance Balboa/Swing socially and fairly comfortably. I need to increase my repertoire and experience, leading/following.
- C: I have taken SEVERAL courses in Balboa/Swing regularly for over at least ONE year. I practice and dance Balboa/Swing socially on a regular, weekly basis. I am comfortable with basics and am practicing more complicated patterns.
- D: I have been taking Balboa/Swing classes and dancing socially for TWO years or over. I practice and dance on a regular, weekly basis. I am comfortable with a few complicated patterns and have started to add footwork variations. I have some trouble dancing and leading/following at very slow and/or very fast tempos.
- E: I have been taking Balboa/Swing classes and dancing socially for two years or over. I practice and dance on a regular, weekly basis. I am comfortable with complicated patterns and comfortably add footwork variations and even create my own. I dance comfortably and relaxed and can lead/follow without problem in all tempos, from very slow to very fast. I am beginning to create my own moves. I want to develop/create my style and improve even my basics.
